Getting started
Pair a kitchen screen or counter tablet
Put the kitchen screen on any tablet, laptop or old phone. No password needed.
Staff don't need their own accounts. Instead you pair the tablet once with a short code, and it stays signed in until you remove it.
On your phone or computer
- Go to Settings › Devices and tap Add device.
- Pick what it's for: Kitchen screen shows tickets and marks them done. POS / counter takes orders and can see the kitchen.
- Give it a name if you like ("Grill", "Front counter") and tap Get pairing code.
On the tablet
- Open the browser and go to
honger.co.za/pair. - Type the code and tap Pair device. That's it.
The code works once, for 15 minutes. If it runs out, make a new one.
Set the tablet up for service
- Plug it in. The kitchen screen keeps itself awake while it's open.
- Add it to the home screen (Share › Add to Home Screen on an iPad, or the browser menu on Android) so it opens full screen like an app.
- Tap the screen once after opening it, so the browser allows the new-order chime. See Kitchen screen tips.
Lost a tablet or replaced it? Remove it in Settings › Devices. It's signed out straight away.
